Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 13 June 1987. Franklin discusses her family, religious and educational experiences growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana. She talks about her courtship and marriage and her relationship with her husband and children. She describes her conversion to the Mormon Church, the reaction of her friends, and the Church's influence on her life and her family. She also talks about her general feelings about being a black Mormon and the experiences of black Mormons in general.
